Jonathan Payne is a freelance artist residing in Santa Clarita, California. His sculptures and paintings focus primarily on creature and character design . He has studied under Jordu Schell (Men In Black, Edward Scissorhands, Avatar), concept sculptor Simon Lee and fine art sculptor John Brown. He prefers to sculpt in oil, polymer and WED clays. Recently he has become consumed with creating an original line of tumorous balls of flesh known as the Fleshlettes. Fleshlette retrospective

Here is a Fleshlette© retrospective of everything fleshy thus far by Payne Sculptures:

Jacqueline the Fleshlette!

This is Jacqueline, she always aims to please. She'll do the book report for that hot guy that sits next to her Chemistry and she always offers to be the designated driver at parties. Someday a prince-charming will see past the veneer of her being an all-fingers Fleshlette mutation. But until that fateful day, she will always be a wistful dreamer.

Interview in 3D Creative Magazine!!!

What a wonderful surprise! 3D Creative magazine (an awesome digital concept art online magazine) reached out and interviewed me about sculpture, design ideas and Fleshlettes! It was such an honor to be asked, especially because they (a digital art publication) are working to expand their focus to include traditional artists.

If you would like to purchase/download your own copy please visit their site here:

Here is an sweet promo graphic from the issue! (pretty wild! :) )

Sawtooth

Sawtooth was bust created for Monsterpalooza 2014. He is a biomechanoid drone and he lost is left arm in an accident. His large chisel shaped facial 'fan' can be used as a cutting and digging weapon and his 'pods' would be able writhe and wiggle like tentacles if he were an animated character.

Rubber Johnny (circa 2009)

This was my final Rubber Johnny Sculpture circa 2009. It became apparent that I never posted the final version and so I wanted to do that today. Unfortunately the original has fallen into disrepair as storage in southern California has not been kind to it.
